Checking on freenas version?

Hi, my system has not had a Truenas update in a long time and i am wondering if something is wrong with it, my last update was Version: TrueNAS-13.0-U6.8 is this still the latest one plz? as I have been trying to also update plexmediaserver without success.

I not very good at tech so wonder if I have messed it up somehow.

13.0-U6.8 is the latest Core Version:

To Upgrade to TrueNAS Scale CE 25.10.2.1 you need to use the Iso-Update-Path:

https://www.truenas.com/docs/softwarestatus/#upgrade-paths

Save the TruNAS-config, Setup TrueNAS 10.25.2.1 from scrach and import the settings from the config-file.

Technically theres Core 13.3 but that’s version is also EOL and only available via manual update file, not via update from the gui…

Thank you for the replies, I think the Iso path sounds complicated… would it be ok to just install on upgrade after the other using the gui?

It’s not compicated. You save your current core config file, download the latest truenas 25 release (should be 25.10.2.1) install that on a new boot ssd (if you want to play it save and keep your old core boot drive) and then just upload your saved config file. That’s about it.
After that you can chooes an updat profile (early adopter, general, mission critical) and you will only be messaged if an update for those profiles is available. E.g. General will not message you if a new beta version is available.

Either an iso fresh install or a sequential upgrade from the UI is possible, but either way make sure you read the migration guide and prepare your system before attempting to move from 13.0 to the current Community Edition.

yeah about that… I messed it up, I told it to make a config file and then did the sequential upgrade from the UI, all went well and I now have a working up to date version of truenas.. but I lost plex and the config seems to have been canceled when downloading :frowning: guess I’ll have to try and set it up again, thank you all for your help and time. maybe i’ll learn better this time.

Well your jails won’t migrate automatically since bsd jails don’t work under linux. You’ll have to recreate your jails as docker apps.
Your jail data should be save in its dataset though.

my dataset is still there, is there a walkthrough I can watch/read on how to reinstall plex?

Take a look at the Starting With Apps and Managing Apps tutorials at https://apps.truenas.com/. It looks like there are also some community guides at Plex | TrueNAS Apps Market, but I don’t know how up to date those are.

What version of TrueNAS are you on right now? If you want to be on the General release train, you need to make the choice when booted into 25.10.0 or 25.10.1. The later versions of 25.10.x are still considered Early Adopter and you won’t have the GA choice.

Hi, I am on 25.10.2.1 - Goldeye, I have managed to get plex running on my pc but not on the tv app atm.

You are currently on the Early Adopter train. If you wish to change to General, check for that option in the train seclection drop down and see if it is available before updateing the OS again. I don’t know when that version will get that option. We are also expecting a 25.10.3 update, relatively soon

General is greyed out atm.

If you want the General train, you have to boot into 25.10.1 or 25.10.0 and then check for updates and change the train. Your other option is to keep checking the drop down options BEFORE allowing any updates.
Screenshot from a 25.10.2.1 system booted to previous 25.10.1 version and selecting the Updates Available button on the Dashboard. You can switch the train then and you will be running 25.10.1 until there is a next update with the General status
