Relatively new to truenas and its workings so am looking for some help.
I recently purchased a intel arc pro b50 for plex/jellyfin transcoding and had hoped to play around with some LLMs. I have installed the card and it is being recognised by the system allowing me to pass it through to Plex. However, whilst I am able to select the card in Plex for transcoding, it doesn’t use the card for transcoding.
So, what I am wondering is if anyone has managed to get the pro B50 working for transcoding or is this due to the card being too new and as such is just very limited in its use at the moment.
If it is the case that the card is limited at the moment, I am considering returning the card and getting the A770 or are the intel cards just not supported at the moment?
I don’t know if this changes, for the better, on the upcoming TrueNAS 26, later this year.
As an alternative, for transcoding focused workloads, TrueNAS 25.10 includes support for the Intel ARC A-series “Alchemist” GPUs through the i915 open source driver. Support for ARC B-series “Battlemage” GPUs is still pending confirmation of kernel compatibility and functionality with the xe driver required for these GPUs. may be possible, but only if your platform supports Resizeable BAR (ReBAR) functionality as the xe driver required for these GPUs depends on it.
