Boot drive is on Octane

I was having problems with truenas just dropping accesability so I decided to do a fresh install. Bad idea, nothing but problems.

First up it refused to reinstall properly. It would not reformat the boot disks and refused to install properly in raid mode. erased the boot disks with dd /dev/urandom and moved on.
Finally got it to install and got to the console with an ip address back to normal so far; Lets go login.
Hit up the webui and enter the correct user:passwd of admin:083154
I tried to change the passwd to multiple things and nothing worked.
I’ve found a workaround but not a fix

workaround is to reset configs to default in the console then load the webui and set a ‘new’ passwd. At that point things are normal but if I logout I must reset the config. What the balls is going on and how do I fix this silliness?

I’ve been searching some kind of a fix to this but searching for login issues only brings up the standard are you using admin or root questions

What does this mean? Do you mean you had mirrored boot devices or are you using hardware RAID? Are the LSI HBA cards in IT Mode. What model LSI?

What version of Scale? Normal GUI login is ‘truenas_admin’ for the user unless you have changed it or it was different from upgrading from Core to Scale and then newer Scale versions.

Mirrored boot devices no hardware raid

Thank you for the update on the username I didn’t realize IX had changed the login name to truenas_admin. good heavens. I spose this is what I get for not being an industry pro.

Thank you!
